Şengül Akçar completed her master’s degree on public policy at Boğaziçi University after Civil Engineering education. She has worked the project, towards low-incomers housing support.
After that, she established The Foundation for the Support of Women’s Work which aims poor women, in 1986. Since than, she has been working with women in order to develop and introduce new projects based on their needs within the foundation. She has Ashoka awards on social entrepreneurship and also she is the council member of Huairou Commission and WLP (Women’s Learning Partnership).
