Meryem Aslan

Ms. Meryem Aslan holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a master’s degree in Public Administration from Uludag University (Bursa, Turkey). She has over 30 years of experience in integrated program design, implementation and management of development and humanitarian programs and promotion of women’s rights in a range of countries and fragile states in South and Central Asia, Africa, Middle East, and Latin America. She worked with UN (UN Women, UNDP, and UNICEF) including in positions of Country and Regional Director, and Head of the UN Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women, and various civil society organisations(i.e., Oxfam, ATD Fourth Word Movement, Refugee Council of Turkey etc.); she has a good understanding of programs, operations, and decision-making structures of UN as well as non-governmental relief and development organizations. She has experience in collaborating with wide range of stakeholders, including civil society, government and intergovernmental institutions and expertise in gender equality, forced migration, localization of aid, civil society development; participatory policy and programme development and influencing.
