UN Women - Programme Specialist

Mehtap Tatar has her undergraduate degree from International Relations Department of Middle East Technical University and graduate degree in Media and Cultural Studies. She has worked voluntarily in civil society organizations working on women, youth and disability. She worked in the social science field researches. She also worked for seven years at Çankaya University firstly as the Founding Manager of Cultural Affairs Directorate, and then later as the Manager of International Relations Office. Since 2012, she has been working at UN Women. In her first role at UN Women, she accomplished the establishment of the UN Women Ankara Project Office and worked as the National Programme Coordinator on a UN Joint Programme which was implemented with the Equal Opportunities Commission of the Turkish Parliament. Currently, she has been working as a Programme Specialist in UN Women Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia. She continues her efforts with passion for a more equal world and women’s liberation, combining her work experience of over 15 years with the government, civil society, academia, international organizations and private sector.
