What is Commonground?

Commonground Social Good Communication Conference brings academics, NGO representatives and design/advertising professionals together to share their experiences for better communication strategies. The conference focuses on “communication of social good “, creates a platform for best practices in the field to be seen.

Commonground hold on 26th February 2015 for the first time. 22 local and international participants shared their experiences and case studies at the conference.

Commonground is initiated by Myra Agency: A communication design agency serving specifically to social benefit projects. Preparations of the conference were held by a team of specialists working for NGO’s and communication professionals specialised on social benefit projects.

Commonground participants have a chance to get together with DNS members, a network created by 7 agencies from Europe who have focused on sustainable communications.

The conference aims to share experiences in Europe and Turkey as well as enabling data sharing and an international networking on social communication.

Commonground aims to encourage NGO’s and corporate projects which provide social benefit to improve their communication processes.

The conference focuses on “communication”, raises awareness on “communication for social good” and brings an international experience to the NGO and corporate social responsibility department executives. Commonground “expands the horizon” for its participants via different case studies from a diversity of social benefit projects.

The conference also aims to expand its effect by NGO executives from different regions of Turkey who have limited resources for sharing this experience.

The relations between NGO’s and corporations is another header of the conference program and case studies on NGO-Corporation collaborations will be a part of the Commonground discussions.

The last but not the least, Commonground is a platform to raise awareness on communication methods for social good projects and one of the objectives of the conference is determining the dynamics of social communication and what makes it different from the commercial communication’s routines. Commonground regards advertising, communication and design professionals as a part of its target audiance, defines social communications as a seperate specialty and aims to expand this field.
